Environmental Economics

Environmental economics is a branch of regular economics which focuses on the relationship between economic activities and the environment. It seeks to understand the causes and consequences of environmental degradation, how natural resources are developed, used, and managed, and to develop policies and market-based instruments which promote sustainable resource use, pollution control, and conservation. Key concepts in environmental economics include externalities, valuation of ecosystem services, cost-benefit analysis, and the efficient allocation of environmental resources.
